Rowland Burdon Lodge

Rowland Burdon No 3960 (Consecrated in 1924) has a vibrant group of members who believe in Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity.

As Freemasons, we meet on the level. It’s the character of the member that is important and not their social status, age, ability or disability. We are inclusive and welcome everyone. Freemasons will always adapt and assist members and visitors to fully participate in, and enjoy, our facilities.

Historically the Lodge drew membership from the local mining community, however in more modern times we have had a substantial number of military veterans and motorcyclists from the Widows Sons group join the Lodge.

We incorporate modern everyday requirements to enhance the quality of membership and foster a feeling of belonging whilst upholding the traditions of the Lodge.

Rowland Burdon Lodge prides itself on being a group of forward-thinking Freemasons with a common goal: to meet with like-minded people and to enjoy each other’s company in a supportive, respectful, and non-judgemental environment. We try to make a difference, to make each other better human beings and in turn, make our communities better by our example.

Rowland Burdon Lodge is the founding Lodge at Castle Eden, and we have a wide cross section of members of all ages and from all walks of life who believe in having fun, being proactive, living life to the full, and working hard. Above all, we believe in helping others and always have charity in mind.
