Who are we?
Dunston St Nicholas Lodge No.9712 (Consecrated 1st April 2000).
We are a charitable, friendly Lodge and are one of five Daylight Lodges scattered across the Province.
Although we are a small Lodge with just 14 members,(8 active, 3 still working and 3 who have difficulty attending due to ill health), the 8 active members are very enthusiastic and willing to fill in with the offices and ceremonies.
The demographic trend shows that we have an ageing membership in our Lodge, without a Candidate since 2001. However, I know that we are all young at heart with many interests outside of Freemasonry and would not have any problems with intergrating any Joining Members or Candidates into our warm and welcoming Lodge.
What we do
We are an Emulation Lodge and we try to adhere to the Emulation ritual by the book even though several members come from Lodges who practice other workings. We all accept this willingly and thoroughly enjoy each others’ company both at work and socially.
Why join us?
We have an ageing membership but would welcome any potential candidate no matter what colour, creed or disability because we know that freemasonry is universal to everyone.
Although small in numbers we are a very friendly lodge with a caring, helpful, happy and conscientious membership who possess vast knowledge and experience in freemasonry. We would be pleased to warmly receive any prospective Candidate or Joining Member no matter what age who would like to join this wonderful Fraternity.
Parking:
Ample tarmacked parking on site with secure metal fencing around the perimeter and CCTV cover the full carpark area. Accessible parking space adjacent to the hall.
Approach:
Level access covering the full car park area, wheel chair access through double doors off the car park.
Entrance:
Main entrance having two large flat areas of low-level steps. Vestibule foyer having a Maglock / doorbell for security.
Emergency:
In the case of Emergency the lift MUST NOT be used, exit from upper floor is by steps (stair case) Evac-chair located in upper foyer. Evacuation routes / plans for emergency exit are in all rooms adjacent to the doors. Each unit within the building has been issued with an evacuation procedure from the Hall Company. A defibrillator is located on the ground floor foyer.
Toilets:
Accessible toilets, Wheel Chair accessible to both WC (ladies & Gents) on ground and upper floors.
Accessibility:
We welcome everyone, and as Freemasons will always be ready when required to help all Brethren and visitors to participate and enjoy our meetings and facilities
The building has been fully adapted for all brethren that have a disability (wheel chair access throughout)
Inside:
Ground floor and upper floor no internal ramps. Wheel chair accessible throughout, Hearing loop in Meeting room. Comfort / seating areas throughout the building
Stairs/Lifts:
Stair case to upper floor have handrails on both sides. Lift to upper floor can accommodate wheel chair and one person. Small lift to access the meeting room.
