The Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the North West Area, WBro Clinton Eliot Leeks, was delighted to attend the first meeting after the recess of St Paul Lodge Jarrow. He was on hand to present Bro Roger Hill with his 50 year membership certificate.
Roger was initiated into St Paul Lodge on the 7th June 1973 but in the early 1990’s he relocated to Darlington where he became a joining member of Dunelm Lodge. With a background in the licensing trade, it is not surprising that Roger has spent the last 15 years behind the bar at Archer Street and Stewarding for various Lodges, along with his good friend and partner in crime Arthur Jones.
Roger was accompanied on his return to his Mother Lodge by a contingent of Dunelm members, and in a moving speech at the Festive Board they presented him with a commemorative bar pull in recognition of his efforts behind the pumps, whilst the members of his Mother Lodge presented him with some newly minted St Paul cufflinks.
Roger was rewarded in June this year with the rank of PPGPurs in recognition of his years of service to the Brethren of the Province and in particular to the visitors to the Masonic Hall in Darlington.
Despite this being a night to celebrate for Roger he couldn’t resist donning the Stewards Coat in St Paul once again.
All in all this was a wonderful way to restart the Masonic year.
