Remembrance Sunday 13th November in 2022 | Durham Freemasons

Remembrance Sunday this falls on 13th Novembe r, and is held in the United Kingdom as a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts, and allows Durham Freemasons to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms.

Also referred to as Poppy Day or Armistice Day, Remembrance Day is observed in Commonwealth countries, including  Australia  and  Canada . Other countries such as the U.S. have similar observances like  Veterans Day . November 11 is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended World War I hostilities between Allied nations and Germany in 1918.

Members are permitted to wear Masonic Collars (no aprons or Masonic Jewels) and appropriate Military medals etc.
