At the Annual General Meeting held at Rainton Meadows the Provincial Grand Master, John Thompson, brought attention to the outstanding service to freemasonry and Moreso to the Province of Durham by the retiring Director of Ceremonies Andrew Dixon and thanked him on behalf of everyone present, wishing him well for the future.
The newly appointed Director of Ceremonies, Martin Rankin was asked to present Andrew to John where he was awarded and presented with the Certificate of Service to Freemasonry. This certificate is much prized amongst freemasons and is only awarded in rare circumstances, to those brethren who have given outstanding service to freemasonry.
Andrew is a retired Bank Manager and has been a freemason for almost 40 years, the last 14 of those years as part of the DC Team as it is known, in both Craft and Chapter. He was Director of Ceremonies in the Chapter in 2014 and then the Craft in 2016 and performed his duties to the highest of standards.
Andrew is standing down to start a new life in Thailand and reflecting on his final day as DC remarked :-
“I was completely overwhelmed to receive this award and I’m honoured to rank among such distinguished previous recipients.
It’s been a privilege to serve the province over many years, most especially as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and I’m truly grateful to have had such opportunity.”
We all wish you well in the next Chapter of your life Andrew.
