Double Gold at Ryton
Assistant Provincial Grand Master Michael Graham visited Ryton Holy Cross Lodge on the 11th November 2019 to help them celebrate the 50 years of membership of Past Master John Hodgkinson. The night started with the initiation of Gary Thompson Horn by the Master Bob Lydon, ably assisted by his Officers after which Gary was congratulated and took his seat within the Lodge.
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master then invited John Hodgkinson to join him in a relaxing talk about his family, work and Masonic life over the last 50 years, at the conclusion of which he was presented with a framed 50 Year Continuous Service Certificate and resumed his position within the lodge to warm applause from the brethren.
During the second rising the Worshipful Master presented a cheque towards the 2021 Festival, and Michael Graham congratulating them on reaching their Gold Award announcing that they were well on the way to the prestigious Platinum Award.
Charity Steward William Dawson was presented with a Gold Award Pin Badge and he thanked the brethren of the lodge for their continuous support.
The Festive board celebrations were enjoyed by all and included a certificate presented to brand new member Gary Horn, signed by the brethren of his lodge marking this special night in his masonic career, and gifts presented to John Hodgkinson as a token of respect from the Lodge in celebrating his Golden Jubilee.
This being Armistice Day, Bugler Norman Moffitt movingly played the “Last Post” while the brethren stood with the sign of sympathy in remembrance to departed merit.
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master then thanked the members of the lodge for several generous cheques he had received towards the 2021 Festival noting that John Hodgkinson had donated a cheque for £1,000 in celebration of his 50 year achievement and supporting his Province and lodge towards their festival target.
A special day was in the history of Ryton Holy Cross Lodge, an Initiation, a 50 Year Certificate plus a Gold Award, all made to a very mementoes masonic occasion.
