Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Andrew Moule, was delighted to visit Dunelm Lodge, in Darlington, to present 50 year service to Freemasonry certificates to two brothers who are also actual brothers.

Bill Carter and his brother John Carter joined Dunelm lodge in January and February 1973 respectively and it was the first time the Assistant Provincial Grand Master had heard of two brothers reaching this fantastic milestone together.

Bill & John’s father and grandfather were also Darlington freemasons and John had followed them both into the family’s butchers business.

Bill’s career was initially as a Quantity Surveyor but his involvement as a motor racing mechanic led him to open a garage in Darlington which, whilst he has now retired, is still going strong.

Andrew thanked them for their excellent service to Freemasonry and the lodge toasted them at the festive board.

Congratulations to Bill & John!
