Who are we?

Harte Lodge is a natural evolution form ancient lodges of operative masons, which continues the ideals of brotherly love and charity, supporting individuals and organisations in Hartlepool, Durham and the wider world.

Last year, we raised thousands of pounds for local and masonic charities with particular emphasis on the Royal Masonic Charity for Boys and Girls  who support children who are less fortunate than we are.

We aspire to greater heights, and in addition to normal charitable raising we

don’t forget the social element either, with dining, events and visit other lodges regularly.

Within the lodge we have some wonderful people, who live up those ancient ideals. We would welcome you to visit us, either as an existing mason or curious outsider who would like to find out more. You will be assured of a warm welcome.

Although we have laudable aims, we do this in a sociable setting, with the chance to get to know more of your fellow Hartlepudlians, Dunelmians and people across the country.

What we do

Freemasonry is a way of life where men can meet regularly in order to be active in the support of its own members, their ideals and of the community at large.

Why join us?

What you will get out of membership of Freemasonry will be reflected by the effort you make to integrate with the other members of the Lodge.

We are sure that you will gain far more from your membership than you expect, by becoming a Freemason and a more useful citizen in your community.

There are no mandates associated with your membership. After becoming a full member of the Lodge, you may be content to remain as a non-active member within the Lodge and just enjoy the fraternal gatherings.

One of the benefits of becoming active in the ritual side of our ceremonies, which will assist you in everyday life, is that by increasing your mental capacity it will give you more self-confidence in speaking to and interacting with your fellow men.
